The yard waste drop-off site is for Lake Township and Village of Hartville residents only. Commercial contractors or non-residents are prohibited from using the site. Rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Trustees under Resolution No. 21-124 on March 22, 2021 are in effect. The site will be monitored for compliance with the rules and regulations. Residents should be prepared to provide proof of residency upon entering the site (e.g. driver's license or other acceptable proof) if asked.

Key Card Access

A gated entry system is in place and effective April 1, 2021, to access the site you must obtain a Lake Township Yard Waste key card issued by the Township. Only one key card per residential household in the unincorporated area of the Township and the Village of Hartville will be issued. In order to obtain a key card, residents may register on-line by clicking on the link below and following the onscreen prompts. A credit card and email address are required to complete registration successfully.

The Board of Trustees has established a nominal annual fee for the key card as follows:

Cards will be available for pick up two business days after registration (for first-time cardholders only). New Yard Waste key cards will not be issued for renewal registrations, your existing card will be renewed/reactivated upon online registration and payment, provided your card has not already expired. If your Yard Waste card has already expired at the time you register online for renewal, there may be a 2-business day wait period for your existing key card to be reactivated. Key cards (for first-time cardholders) can be picked up in person at the Lake Township Administration Building 12360 Market Ave. N Hartville, OH 44632 between 8 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You must bring your drivers' license with you to pick up your card to prove residency in the township or the village.

Residents who do not have access to a computer, may register in-person at the Lake Township Administrative Office located at 12360 Market Avenue North, Hartville. This service is available between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

When you purchase a yard waste card you will keep that same card (please do not lose your card). If for any reason you need to purchase another card, your old card will be deactivated and a new one will be issued, at the cost of $15. Your yard waste card subscription will automatically renew annually at the cost of $25. If you have any questions, please call our office at 330-877-9479.

Site Usage Rules

1. Exclusive entry/usage is for Lake Township and Village of Hartville residents only who have obtained a “Lake Township Yard Waste Key Card”. Usage of this site is for yard waste from the cardholder’s residential property located in Lake Township and/or the Village of Hartville.
2. No commercial vehicles, commercial businesses or commercial waste of any kind is permitted.
3. No rental vehicles (U Haul, Home Depot, etc.) or any vehicles in excess of 8600 GVW are permitted drop off at the site.
4. Hours of Operation: Monday & Friday each week, 7 AM - 7 PM. Saturday & Sunday, 9 AM - 5 PM. No person shall deposit yard waste outside the designated drop-off area or outside the designated hours of operation. Site will close for the season on November 30th or as otherwise determined by the Board of Trustees.
5. No tree or plant branches larger than six (6) inches in diameter and/or longer than four (4) feet.
6. No cut trees.
7. No logs.
8. No stumps.
9. No construction materials.
10. No dirt/stones/sod/straw/hay.
11. No dump trucks or dump trailers of any kind.
12. No trailers longer than 10 feet.
13. Absolutely no plastics, plastic bags, lumber, plywood, metal, trash, treated wood, fencing, stone, or concrete. Only biodegradable yard waste will be accepted.
14. Abuse or misuse of the “Lake Township Yard Waste Card”, or sharing with anyone outside the household, will result in revocation of the yard waste access/privileges and no refund will be given.

When using the site be prepared for your debris to be inspected for rule compliance and to show proof of residency. Enforcement of the rules is key to the sustainability of the site.
